Bernd Gross takes over the position of CTO
Software AG appoints new CTO and CMO
Dr. Wolfram Jost, who as Chief Technology Officer developed Software AG's technology for digital transformation, is leaving the company to pursue new challenges.
"Dr. Jost joined Software AG 's Executive Board in 2009 with the acquisition of IDS Scheer and has achieved a great deal for Software AG in the decade that has passed since then. He has been instrumental in positioning the company in the digital transformation market; his idea of a platform has enabled us to differentiate ourselves and improve our perception in the market, especially among industry analysts and customers. I wish him every success in his future work and thank him on behalf of the entire Supervisory Board," said Dr. Andreas Bereczky, Chairman of the Supervisory Board.
Dr. Stefan Sigg, member of the Executive Board, will be responsible for all areas of the company's product portfolio, including product management, product development and support, in an expanded role as Chief Product Officer.
Bernd Gross will assume the position of Chief Technology Officer with immediate effect. He will report to the Chief Executive Officer, Sanjay Brahmawar. Bernd Gross is a proven expert in business innovation in major industries enabled by the Internet of Things combined with analytics and integration software. He joined Software AG in 2017 as CEO and co-founder of the IoT platform Cumulocity through an acquisition and is driving the development of its IoT and cloud business.
Sanjay Brahmawar commented: "Bernd Gross has successfully established Cumulocity and thus Software AG as a leading company in the international market for IoT platforms and networking. With his business focus, his extensive technical knowledge and his intuition for future market requirements, he is the ideal candidate for our CTO position."
Commenting on his appointment, Bernd Gross said: "For me, IoT is much more than just big data or device management. We are creating a new virtual world based on networked cyber-physical systems. This holistic networking requires integration, analysis tools, database technologies and new methods for operational implementation. It is an honor for me to establish Software AG as an opinion leader in these areas with our customers and in the market."
The company also announced that Paz Macdonald will join Software AG as Chief Marketing Officer effective January 14. Paz Macdonald has more than 20 years of experience in technology marketing and was most recently Vice President of Marketing EMEA and APAC at MongoDB, a fast-growing software provider for hybrid cloud databases.
"Paz joins us at an exciting time. We continue to build on our strong position as a pioneer in digital transformation and I am confident that her experience and commitment will drive all aspects of our global marketing strategy and activities and make us the go-to destination for customers, partners and employees," said CEO Brahmawar.
Paz Macdonald was MongoDB's first European employee and drove the company's market awareness, developer recognition and commercial success with innovative marketing programs. She was instrumental in the international expansion and successful development of the company from a start-up to a publicly traded company. Prior to MongoDB, she held leadership positions at IBM, Cisco, Samsung, HP Software and Cognos.
"I am very excited to join the Software AG team and work to strengthen the company's leadership position in digital transformation. To ensure we deliver an excellent customer experience in all interactions, an important aspect of my role will be to listen to customers, prospects and partners. It couldn't be a better time to be involved with Artificial Intelligence, the Internet of Things (IoT) and integration," says Paz Macdonald on her appointment.
Paz Macdonald will be based at the company's UK headquarters in Bracknell and will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer, Sanjay Brahmawar. She holds a Bachelor of Science (Hons) in Economics from Loughborough University and a Graduate Diploma in Marketing from the Chartered Institute of Marketing.
