RoDip E now also in China
Tumbling tree with electric drive
The FAW-VW joint venture is modernizing a paint shop in China. Plant manufacturer Dürr is responsible for this conversion. The Rodip E rotational dip painting process with electric drive will be used for the first time in China from the time of commissioning in September 2019.
Well over ten million car bodies per year are already coated worldwide using this technology from Dürr. Its advantages are the elimination of inlet and outlet slopes, the resulting reduction in the length of the dip tanks by up to six meters and the resulting savings in the consumption of water and chemicals. Energy consumption for bath conditioning is also reduced thanks to the smaller bath volumes.
Better coating quality
Rodip not only reduces unit costs, but also offers excellent corrosion protection thanks to an optimized dipping, flooding and dripping process. In the Chinese market, customers have so far preferred the mechanical Rodip M version. Now, for the first time in China, the electric version is being used to replace a competitor product that has been used up to now. Rodip E impresses with its electric drive, in which each of the freely programmable carriages has a separate drive for rotation in addition to the travel drive. The individually programmable carriages enable optimized dipping curves for the respective body. This in turn leads to even better coating quality, increases energy efficiency and thus enables a further reduction in unit costs.
In addition to replacing the conveyor technology in the pre-treatment and cathodic dip painting areas, Dürr is also renewing the conveyor technology in the adjacent areas. The drying and cooling zones and the PVC workstations will also be extended. The aim is to increase capacity to 65 units per hour and to integrate a new, larger vehicle model into the production process. pb
