Robot-based gripper and handling solutions
Piab takes over Feba Automation
Piab has acquired Feba Automation, developer and manufacturer of robot-based gripper solutions for the manufacturing industry. Feba Automation is headquartered in Germany. This is Piab's second acquisition after SAS Automation, a leading US developer and manufacturer of mechanical grippers and EOATs (End of Arm Tools) for robots.
Täby, Sweden - Increasing automation, driven by the constant quest for more efficient production and higher quality, is revolutionizing manufacturing processes worldwide. Technological breakthroughs in robotics and connectivity are creating a wealth of new opportunities. For example, they are opening up automation solutions for more and more industries and enabling fully digital business models that would not be possible without Piab's intelligent and production-critical solutions. Piab has doubled its sales in the last four years and now generates annual sales of SEK 1 billion. This was driven by double-digit organic growth on the one hand and the expansion of the product range through the acquisition of niche suppliers on the other.
With the acquisition of Feba Automation and SAS Automation, Piab complements its market-leading range of vacuum automation solutions with mechanical gripper systems and EOATs (End of Arm Tools). This is Piab's response to the demand of many customers for gripper and handling solutions from a single source and at the same time strengthens its position in the USA, Germany and China as well as in high-growth end customer markets.
"The trend towards automation, driven by robotics and the Internet of Things, is a key factor in Piab's strong growth. We have been pioneers in vacuum automation technology since the 1960s and are ideally positioned as the global market leader in our field. Thanks to the acquisition of Feba Automation and SAS Automation, we can now also offer robotic grippers and thus address a much larger market. Our intelligent, production-critical solutions open up clear added value for our customers, as they allow objects to be moved faster, more safely and with extremely low energy consumption. Both acquisitions are important steps towards realizing our vision of establishing ourselves as the world's leading supplier of gripper and handling solutions," says Anders Lindqvist, CEO of Piab. kp
