Pfeiffer opens new high-tech production site
Pfeiffer Vacuum has opened a new production site in Cluj, Romania. The steady growth of the group of companies and the continuous demand for vacuum technology made the modern new building necessary.
The new building has now been inaugurated with around 140 guests, including employees, suppliers and partners as well as the German and French ambassadors. Various local community representatives were also present. The city of Cluj is located in the north-west of Romania. With around 320,000 inhabitants, it is the second largest city in Romania.
As a business location, Cluj focuses primarily on the information technology, electrical engineering and mechanical engineering sectors. The city has built four industrial parks specifically for this purpose. Cluj is a university city and the largest administrative center after Bucharest, the capital.
Production and service of components for vacuum pumps from Pfeiffer Vacuum have been taking place in Cluj since 2010. The new Pfeiffer Vacuum building is located in the Nervia Industrial Park in Apahida. Highly efficient production processes can be run on 4,300 square meters of production space. "With the new building, we have expanded our production and service capacity for components for turbopumps and backing pumps. This is part of our new growth strategy, which includes a global investment program with a volume of 150 million euros," said Dr. Eric Taberlet, CEO of Pfeiffer Vacuum Technology.
74 employees in Cluj now support the workforce at Pfeiffer Vacuum's other production sites. The same production and service standards apply in Romania as at the Pfeiffer Vacuum locations in Germany and France. In addition, the new site in Cluj plays an important role in energy management: The new building and production facilities are in line with the latest findings and technologies for optimal resource utilization. as
