As part of the partnership, the Japanese Omron Corp. will distribute the TM series of collaborative robots from the Taiwanese company Techman Robot worldwide under a co-branded logo from the second half of the 2018 financial year. The two companies will also work together to develop the next generation of collaborative robots. The aim is to integrate the robots into Omron's factory automation solutions and enable smooth collaboration between man and machine.

In addition to the standard versions of the TM series, Omron will also be offering new models that are "mobile-compatible", i.e. can be easily integrated into Omron's mobile LD robots. The LD robots avoid people and obstacles and move autonomously. They are already used worldwide in the field of automated material transportation. Equipped with a collaborative robot arm, the machines can not only transport material from one place to another, but also perform tasks such as picking and placing parts (pick-and-place).

"Since the acquisition of Adept Technology in 2015, Omron has invested significant resources in the development of robot technologies and the expansion of the robot market," says Seigo Kinugawa, Executive Officer and Senior General Manager of the Robotics Business Development Project of Omron's Industrial Automation Company, adding: "The partnership with Techman is aimed at advancing human-robot collaboration in production processes. Adding collaborative robotic arms to Omron's expertise in mobile robots will also add momentum to our "Innovation-Automation!" initiative, which aims to increase factory productivity through human-machine collaboration."
