New offices for Bettenhausen and Harting
Dr. Kurt D. Bettenhausen is President of the DKE, Member of the IEC Board and President of the German National Committee of the IEC. Philip Harting unanimously elected to the VDE Executive Committee by the Assembly of Delegates
The new year brings new honorary positions for Philip Harting, Chairman of the Board, and Dr. Kurt D. Bettenhausen, Director of New Technologies and Development at HARTING: Harting was unanimously elected to the Presidium of the VDE (Association for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies) by the Delegates' Meeting, and Bettenhausen is now President of the German Commission for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies (DKE). At the same time, he also became a Member of the IEC Board and President of the German National Committee of the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC).
Standardization and norms
In their new roles, both will drive forward the topics of standardization and standardization of electrotechnical components, which are important for the technology group - both at national and international level. Dr. Kurt D. Bettenhausen succeeds Roland Bent as the new Chairman of the DKE Steering Committee, who has held this position since 2014.
With this office, he is also following in the footsteps of senior boss Dietmar Harting. The latter was also appointed to the highest office of the German Commission for Electrical, Electronic & Information Technologies in 1998 and was later appointed Honorary Chairman of the DKE in DIN and VDE for his extraordinary commitment.
Philip Harting, himself a member of the Assembly of Delegates of the German Electrical and Electronic Manufacturers' Association since the beginning of the year, is looking forward to the challenges ahead: "Dr Bettenhausen and I are proud to be able to represent and help shape German interests in the standards organizations with our new areas of responsibility. Our common goal is to promote innovation as a whole. Standardization is an important strategic instrument for the success of society and the economy."
