Electromobility
New production line from Bonfiglioli in Italy
Bonfiglioli, the manufacturer of transmission housings, geared motors and drive systems, has opened its new production line for electromobility in Forli, Italy.
The new facility covers around 10,000 square meters and is used exclusively for the production of axles for electric drivetrains and wheel drives in various sizes. Bonfiglioli has also built an environmentally friendly new building with LED lighting and a photovoltaic system on the roof. Furthermore, the new building was equipped with a compressor heat recovery system to achieve energy savings and generation according to energy class A2. This results in an annual energy saving of around 1 MWh, which corresponds to 300 tons ofCO2.
The building is fully integrated into the existing plant, which already produces around 300,000 products per year. With a total area of 39,000 square meters for production alone, the plant currently serves 200 customers in the construction, wind, agricultural, marine, logistics & intralogistics industries with a wide range of azimuth and pitch drives, wheel drives, travel drives, slew drives and winch drives.
"This new and innovative facility is future-oriented and consolidates one of our main strategic pillars - the development of electromobility solutions - by leveraging the existing decades-old competence center in Forlì with a focus on mobile machinery," says Fausto Carboni, CEO of the Bonfiglioli Group.
The implementation of Industry 4.0 technologies using collaborative robots, automated guided vehicles (AGVs), sensors, image processing systems, interactive work instruction systems and full data connection systems enables the entire production process to be optimized. Test benches guarantee high-quality products. Maximum flexibility was one of the main criteria when designing the new production line.
