Mendix introduces new platform extension
The new platform extension of Mendix in IBM Cloud has been optimized and cloud-natively integrated with IBM Cloud services. The cloud architecture supports the Kubernetes containerization of the IBM ecosystem, enabling access to the functions of Watson.
Siemens' subsidiary Mendix offers a low-code solution for enterprises. "The goal of the Mendix-IBM alliance is to enable the enterprise cloud market to easily drag-and-drop low-code application development, make Watson's AI capabilities available to the largest possible number of users and significantly accelerate the time-to-value delivery of business innovation," said Erno Rorive, Senior Product Manager at Mendix.
Mendix platform enhancements for IBM Cloud Infrastructure include expanded access to IBM Cloud Services, which enables enterprise customers to experiment with AI-enabled services. It also supports Kubernetes, an open source system for automating the deployment, scaling and management of containerized applications. This enables optimized management and compatible deployment across public, private and hybrid clouds. According to the company, this integration of the Mendix platform prevents costly IT overheads through automated healing and horizontal scaling. This enables the migration of legacy systems or the development of new, native, microservice-based cloud capabilities.
The revised platform integration enables all Mendix low-code applications with one-click and out-of-the-box deployment for IBM Cloud's third-party portfolio. According to Mendix, this enables companies to operate and monitor business-critical applications in an IBM-centric dashboard without additional logins or passwords.
