Mapal reports 610 million euros turnover
The precision tool manufacturer Mapal reports a turnover of 610 million euros for 2017, continuing its growth from recent years.
In addition to turnover, the number of employees has also risen from 5,000 in 2016 to 5,250 worldwide last year. Managing Director Dr. Jochen Kress is also aiming for growth in the current year and is also focusing on investments: He announced that 6 percent of turnover will again be invested in research and development this year. One focus is also on electromobility.
"Among other things, we addressed the topic of e-mobility at an early stage," explains Kress. The company, which is headquartered in Aalen, will therefore transfer its expertise in the machining of conventional powertrain components to the components to be machined in vehicles with hybrid or electric drives.
Another key topic in the tool specialist's strategy is the digitalization and end-to-end networking of production. "Above all, the efficient handling of data quickly emerged as one of the biggest challenges of digitalization for machining companies. We responded to this need with the open cloud platform c-Com, for which we founded c-Com GmbH in 2017," explains Dr. Jochen Kress. The product of the same name is an open cloud platform that not only networks the entire supply chain, but also addresses the challenges faced by companies in the machining sector.
