HANNOVER TRADE FAIR 2018

Lighthouse projects of the IoT

Software AG will be represented at Hannover Messe 2018 (23 - 27 April) in several ways, demonstrating how technology for the Internet of Things can be used to digitize key industrial scenarios - simply, efficiently and innovatively.

At the partner stands of Siemens, EdgeX Foundry, Huawei and Deutsche Telekom, Software AG will provide insights into its comprehensive IoT portfolio. Highlights include four show cases that vividly illustrate successful digitalization. They show the interaction of the process modeling solution ARIS with the IoT platform MindSphere from Siemens, real-time analyses in an industrial environment and in the edge system of a wind farm as well as the use of Culumocity IoT for the "Cloud of Things" from T-System.

The Internet of Things (IoT) is digitizing industrial production - in all sectors. The organizers of Hannover Messe 2018, which this year is being held under the motto "Integrated Industry - Connect & Collaborate", firmly expect to be able to ignite the next stage of Industry 4.0. Software AG has long been committed to this motto by providing companies with unique solutions for the Internet of Things (IoT). It has purposefully built up a deep and broad IoT portfolio at an early stage. It will be presenting a number of successful flagship projects at Hannover Messe 2018:

Show Case 1: Driving business transformation with MindSphere and ARIS
Siemens will be focusing on the implementation of IoT projects in the MindSphere Lounge, Hall 9, Stand D35. A showcase will demonstrate how "business transformation" can succeed with the help of the Siemens IoT platform MindSphere and the process modeling solution ARIS from Software AG. ARIS for IoT provides the necessary tools to equip business processes with smart objects, sensors and intelligent actuators and to plan, evaluate and optimize the resulting effects on the business. The ARIS Process Performance Manager (PPM) makes production-related processes transparent and enables better business decisions. All of this runs via the Mindsphere cloud platform, which is characterized by open standards and interfaces and is particularly suitable for constructing a digital twin. Ultimately, companies learn how they can plan IoT projects better and more easily, develop digital IoT twins and design, monitor and control IoT processes.

Show Case 2 and 3: Real-time analyses in the edge system of a wind farm and in industry
Cumulocity, Software AG's IoT platform for developing your own IoT applications, proves itself in the "wind farm of the future" - at EdgeX Foundry in Hall 6, Stand B17. Cumulocity IoT supports a distributed architecture and offers dashboards, analysis rules, apps and cloud-ready integrations that can be transferred to edge deployments. Specifically, visualization for real-time analysis in edge systems is running on this partner stand. You can see how edge systems in the wind farm collect large amounts of data and process the data with real-time streaming analytics on site, whereby only selected, processed data elements are transmitted to the central Cumulocity IoT backend platform.

Not far away at the Huawei stand, Hall 6, Stand D18, Software AG will be demonstrating how companies can use streaming edge analytics to detect errors in complex manufacturing and production processes at an early stage. Machine data reaches the back-end cloud system via Huawei's EX-IoT gateway, which analyzes the data stream directly in real time. Data analysis for predictive maintenance at the edge of the Internet of Things makes it possible to react quickly and take preventive measures to impending malfunctions, saving industrial companies time-consuming downtime.

"The Hannover Messe will show trade visitors in a concentrated form what kinds of applications are not only possible in the Industry 4.0 environment, but are already leading to economic success today. We see it as our mission to accompany companies on their way there. We initially offer a simple quick start, whereby our platforms and solutions can be adapted to the growing and increasingly complex nature of an IoT project," explains Werner Rieche, Managing Director of Software AG Germany.

Show Case 4: Off to the "Cloud of Things"
Making it easier for companies to access the IoT - T-Systems is also committed to this goal and will be presenting its IoT service offering, the "Cloud of Things", in a showcase at the Deutsche Telekom stand in Hall 6, Stand F16. The IoT service is based on the Cumulocity IoT platform and is tailored in particular to the needs of small and medium-sized enterprises in order to realize the simple networking and control of end devices.
