ifm hackathon in Siegen
Technology challenge with two themes
On October 20 and 21, 2023, IT specialists, students and trainees will come together in Siegen to work together on topics relating to programming and cybersecurity. ifm is organizing a very special edition of the hackathon format with its "innovate-a-thon" under the motto "Let's explore the future together". The focus is on the IT security of the in-house IIoT platform Moneo and an unusual technology challenge.
Hackathons have now established themselves worldwide as a form of event. IT enthusiasts get together for a few hours or days and work on one or more problems relating to computer science and IT. ifm has also held hackathons in the past, most recently in 2022 on the topic of "Green Production". This year, the company is inviting interested parties from various fields to its "innovate-a-thon" at The Summit innovation center in Siegen.
Programming language and IT security
ifm has two topics in store for the hackathon: in a technology challenge, the best programming language for a specific problem will be sought. Participants are divided into teams and compete against each other with their favorite tech stack. Whether Rust, Type-Script or Blazor, ifm is looking for the best possible solution. In the area of IT security, on the other hand, the focus is on the cyber security of the ifm-Moneo platform. It creates the link between OT and IT in an easy-to-use and flexibly configurable solution.
Security against unauthorized attacks is currently a major issue in the industry. The consequences of hacker attacks are huge, and German companies are also repeatedly affected by manipulation attempts.
Playfully uncover security gaps
At ifm's innovate-a-thon, the teams work on specific tasks depending on their focus. After technical onboarding, they then regularly present their interim results in order to gain new impetus from the group's feedback.
One and a half days of networking
There are all kinds of incentives for taking part: The winning team can look forward to prize money of 2,500 euros. In addition, all participants will have the opportunity to network with other IT enthusiasts from the Siegen region and put their knowledge directly into industrial practice. The innovate-a-thon starts on October 20 at 12 noon at the Summit in Siegen and ends on October 21 with a joint party.
