Hannover Messe 2023
The Hermes Award nominees have been announced
An independent jury has nominated three companies for the Hermes Award from among the submissions: ACS, Beckhoff and Bosch Rexroth. The winner will be announced at the opening ceremony of the Hannover Messe in the presence of German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
Every year, Deutsche Messe presents the Hermes Award to a company whose product or solution demonstrates a particularly high degree of technological innovation. Only technology solutions that have already been tried and tested in industry are considered. Jury chairman and President of the Fraunhofer-Gesellschaft, Prof. Reimund Neugebauer, says: "The excellent quality of the submissions was very impressive again this year. With a sensor-based balancing module for robots, a modular industrial robot construction kit and a multi-user platform for building management, the nominees impressively demonstrated their innovative strength and represent varying degrees of efficiency, sustainability and flexibility. What all three solutions have in common is that they have the potential to develop a high level of dynamism in their respective fields and to change their area of application in the long term. On behalf of the jury, I wish all three nominees every success."
ACS Climatics with Project Climatics
The nominated Climatics project is a multi-user platform for building management. Digital twin technologies with machine learning algorithms are used to increase the energy efficiency of buildings. To this end, the measurement data from heating, ventilation and air conditioning is recorded in one device with high temporal resolution. As this is a learning system, the sensor data is subjected to a plausibility check. With this system, energy savings of 25 percent on average are possible thanks to the optimized interaction of the variables that determine the climate.
Beckhoff with Project Atro
The Atro: Automation Technology for Robotics project was nominated. This is a modular industrial robot construction kit that can be used to individually and flexibly assemble optimal robot structures for different applications. Standardized motor modules with integrated drive functionality, together with link modules in various designs and lengths, enable a wide range of mechanical combinations. Thanks to the complete integration of the control system into the holistic Twincat control platform, a wide range of proven automation functions are directly available.
Bosch Rexroth with Smart Flex Effector project
The nominated Smart Flex Effector project is a sensor-supported compensation module (end effector) for robots with independent, precise kinematics in six degrees of freedom. It can be used for handling or joining processes with tight tolerances in automation technology or robotics with loads of up to 6 kg. The position of workpieces or handling objects can be sensed by robots with Smart Flex Effector. It can be used for a wide range of applications, as it is also suitable for human-robot collaboration as an add-on device for various robots.
