Expansion of the distribution center
Groundbreaking ceremony at RS Components in Bad Hersfeld
RS Components, a brand of Electrocomponents, celebrated the official ground-breaking ceremony for the expansion of its distribution center in Bad Hersfeld on Monday, 24 June 2019.
The 65 million euro project will expand and further automate the distribution center (DC). From day one, it will be available with twice the capacity following the expansion.
The company will maintain its other distribution centers throughout the EMEA region in order to be prepared for future growth and expansion of the product range in the region. Currently, 140,000 industrial and electronic products are stocked in Bad Hersfeld. The new state-of-the-art distribution center will be able to accommodate over 500,000 products. It should be fully operational within two years.
"The project in Bad Hersfeld is an important step towards the future for us," said Debbie Lentz (President Global Supply Chain, Electrocomponents). "The expansion of the DC creates opportunities for further growth across the EMEA region. The increased speed at which customers receive the product they want and the overall improved service around delivery will enhance the customer and supplier experience."
The ceremony took place in the presence of District Administrator Dr. Michael Koch, Mayor Thomas Fehling and the representatives of RS Components Debbie Lentz (President Global Supply Chain), Mike England (President EMEA), Jürgen Lampert (VP Central Europe), Jürgen Hebebrand (VP CE Operations and Transformation) and the responsible architect Frank Dorbritz near the existing facilities of the logistics center. The district administrator and mayor thanked RS Components for the investment in Bad Hersfeld.
