Framos: new head of sensor and module development

Chris Barrett, an imaging veteran with over 20 years of experience in engineering, R&D and product development, joins Framos as Vice President Sensor Engineering.

Chris Barrett starts as Vice President Sensor Engineering at embedded vision technology provider Framos.

As the new head of global sensor and module development, Barrett has extensive experience in machine vision with a focus on innovation and new technologies. "I am very excited to be part of Framos, especially as they are growing rapidly and starting a new chapter in the company's history," says Barrett. "I think the focus on modules and embedded vision is a winning strategy for Framos. I am proud to be part of the team and look forward to taking the company and its technologies to the next level." With Chris Barrett in this key position, Framos gains an experienced imaging personality with extensive expertise in engineering, management, R&D and operations. Barrett holds five patents, among others.

In recent years, Barrett has played an important role in various positions within the machine vision industry. As Co-CEO at International Datacasting (IDC), he was responsible for engineering, including the development of low latency HD video solutions and the development of a 4K decoder used for the 2014 FIFA World Cup broadcast. Previously, Barrett was Vice President of Engineering at Lumenera and Pleora. As VP Engineering, Barrett led all R&D and operations activities, resulting in accelerated new product introductions and multiple process and supply chain management improvements. Chris Barrett has held a variety of engineering positions throughout his career, with experience in start-ups and large corporations such as Nortel, Alcatel and CIENA. Barrett comes to Framos with deep expertise in leading high-performance engineering teams and in product development from conception to testing.
