Resolto Informatik becomes part of the Festo Group
Festo: Investment in AI
By signing a contract with the IT company Resolto Informatik on April 17, 2018, Festo is taking a further step towards the Smart Factory.
"With Resolto, we have gained a leading company in the field of artificial intelligence for industrial applications," says Dr. Frank Melzer, Chief Product and Technology Management Officer at Festo. Founded in 2003, the IT company offers solutions that include powerful artificial intelligence for real-time applications in industrial companies. Data is already interpreted in the field and close to the machine. This enables energy savings, shorter cycle times and, above all, fewer machine failures and less production waste. In all industrial sectors, whether pharmaceutical, food, energy or automotive, downtime leads to lost time and high costs. Artificial intelligence (AI) helps to reduce this.
Resolto will continue to support existing customers
"Festo's philosophy of always looking for new innovations is a very good fit for us," emphasizes Tanja Krüger, Managing Director of Resolto Informatik GmbH. "When making this decision, it was also important to me that we can continue to support our existing customers as usual in the future. Our entire range of services will continue to be available to them without restriction," assures Tanja Krüger.
Following the takeover, Resolto will remain an independent company under the umbrella of the Festo Group. The IT company will continue to serve its customer base as before, develop further and continue to expand its leading position in the field of artificial intelligence in industry-related applications. "We take our customers and Resolto's customers very seriously and will therefore provide Resolto with the best possible support on its journey. We will give the creative minds, data analysts and data scientists the freedom they need to develop specific, innovative and therefore smart solutions for the mechanical engineering market," says Dr. Frank Melzer.
Detect anomalies in real time
Among other products, the Prognos software solution is of interest to Festo. It knows the healthy state of a system and detects any anomalies by analyzing the system's sensor data in real time. "Prognos provides early and precise forecasts, makes diagnoses and makes recommendations for action. The system's knowledge base is constantly growing thanks to the permanent collection of data. This enables more efficient production," says Tanja Krüger, describing the great added value of the software. "The topic of analytics and artificial intelligence will have a huge impact on our product portfolio, for example by enabling AI algorithms to be integrated both in the cloud and directly into Festo components," adds Dr. Frank Melzer. kp
