Expansion in Cham
Ensinger expands production and logistics areas
Plastics processor Ensinger is planning to extend a production and logistics building at its Cham site that was commissioned ten years ago. The new building project is the second construction project at the branch plant. A few weeks ago, the company began construction of a hall that will house the compounding lines and parts of the logistics facilities in future.
The Cham site produces machined finished parts, semi-finished cast polyamide products, insulating profiles for windows, doors and façades as well as spacers for insulating glass. The modular plant expansion will provide additional production, storage and office space for all divisions based at the site.
The two current projects include further measures, including the construction of a new energy center and the expansion of the central plant infrastructure. The fully automated high-bay warehouse, which serves as a dynamic production buffer, is also to be expanded.
The costs for the new buildings and all infrastructure measures will total around 40 million euros. "All divisions at the Cham plant will benefit from these investments, as will the group of companies. By expanding production capacity, Ensinger is creating the conditions for long-term growth at the site," says Andreas Alsfasser, who is coordinating the construction projects as Technical Manager at Ensinger. According to current plans, the final work on the plant site should be completed in summer 2019.
The Cham site was founded in 1980 and has grown considerably since then. The plant in the Altenmarkt industrial estate is one of the largest production facilities of the internationally active plastics processor Ensinger. The wide range of products manufactured in Cham is used in almost all major industrial sectors, whether in mechanical engineering, the construction industry, medical technology or the food industry. kp
