By bundling its expertise in the field of laser-based measurement technology, the Group is strengthening its focus on laboratory and process analysis and will be able to provide customers with even better support for analytical tasks in the future.

Endress+Hauser has had a strategic focus on process and laboratory analysis for many years. The company supports customers from product and process development through to production and brings modern analysis methods and quality measurements to process engineering applications. Its success in key markets confirms this approach: the Group generates almost a quarter of its turnover with analysis technology.

Bundling under a common roof

SpectraSensors and Kaiser Optical Systems merged on January 1 under the new name Endress+Hauser Optical Analysis in order to bundle their expertise in laser-based measurement processes and create the basis for sustainable growth. Both companies can look back on a long history of innovation and offer market-leading product lines for laser-based optical analysis.

With the acquisition of the two US companies in 2012 and 2013, Endress+Hauser brought innovative technologies on board. Absorption spectroscopy using tunable laser diodes (TDLAS) from SpectraSensors strengthened the Group's position in gas analysis. Kaiser Optical Systems, a world leader in Raman spectroscopy, has expertise in analyzing solids, liquids and gases for a variety of applications, including vaccine production.

Offer from the laboratory to the process

"We want to further develop and expand our offering for laboratory and process analysis. Together with Endress+Hauser Liquid Analysis and the subsidiary Analytik Jena, Endress+Hauser Optical Analysis forms an important element of our Group's analysis strategy," says Dr. Manfred Jagiella, who is responsible for the analysis business on the Endress+Hauser Executive Board.

"Our customers expect easy-to-use, robust measuring devices that fit their applications," says Managing Director John Schnake, who will lead the new unit. With its laser-based measurement technologies, Endress+Hauser provides an integrated product portfolio for analysis that supports industrial customers from product and process development through quality control to the production process.

Endress+Hauser Optical Analysis is based in Ann Arbor, Michigan/USA. This is also where the Raman spectroscopic instruments are developed and manufactured. The TDLAS analyzers will continue to be produced in Rancho Cucamonga, California. The newly formed company has around 200 employees. It will remain fully owned by the Endress+Hauser Group.
