Ground-breaking ceremony for new production and office wing

Emag expands at its headquarters in Salach

On March 5, the ground-breaking ceremony for the Emag Group's new production and office wing in Salach took place together with representatives from the company, construction companies and politicians.

Responsible persons from the company, the construction companies and politics met at the groundbreaking ceremony in Salach - including Markus Heßbrüggen (CEO EMAG Group, 4th from left), Norbert Heßbrüggen (Chairman of the Advisory Board EMAG GmbH & Co. KG, 5th from left), Edgar Wolff (District Administrator of Göppingen, 6th from left) and Julian Stipp (Mayor of Salach, 4th from right).

Right next to the main building in Austraße in Salach, a new 10,000 square meter building will be constructed by the end of the year. It will provide space for a 6,000 square meter production hall as well as 4,000 square meters of office, meeting and social rooms. "We are pushing ahead with Emag's global growth at full speed. Against this backdrop, we need new production space at our headquarters, which we are equipping with state-of-the-art technologies and intelligent logistics solutions. We are creating attractive workplaces without exception," explains Markus Heßbrüggen, CEO of the Emag Group. "At the same time, the investment is of course a commitment to the location where we have been based for almost 50 years. The next generation of our complex and often large production lines will be built here in the future. Not least, we need a lot of space for this."

The company's steady growth had already led to various construction measures in 2017 - for example, a bridge was completed over the adjacent Fils river, opening up the site of a former paper factory. This is where the Emag Group's logistics are located today. The start of the new building project marks the culmination of Emag's investment program for the time being.

The Emag Group produces manufacturing systems that are mostly used in production in the automotive industry. The high quality of the machines and the process expertise from Salach have led to the high demand. "We have received many large orders in recent years, which meant that our spatial capacities were ultimately exhausted. As a result, we rented various halls in the district last year. With the new building, we can now continue to grow both economically and in terms of personnel," says Markus Heßbrüggen.

Political representatives welcome decision

Also present at the ground-breaking ceremony were political representatives, who unanimously emphasized the importance of the construction project for the region. Edgar Wolff, District Administrator of the Göppingen district, emphasized in his speech that this investment was based on entrepreneurial foresight: "We have a strong location here with a very good infrastructure, from which the traditional company Emag will also benefit in the future. At the same time, the decision is driving forward the development of the business location in a targeted manner." The Mayor of Salach, Julian Stipp, confirmed this assessment. The Emag story is an excellent example of how a medium-sized company can become a global player. "Today, Emag is an economic beacon for the region. As a municipality, we will of course continue to accompany this development and provide targeted support," said Stipp.

The commissioned architect, Robert Rösch, presented interesting details about the new building in his speech. For example, the building will be constructed very sustainably and the waste heat from the machines will be used to heat the offices. At the same time, the plans are based on a flexible utilization concept. According to Rösch, Emag will be able to realize very different machines and production lines in this hall in the future. "We are ensuring that this investment is very future-proof and leaves all options open for the company." kp
