70 years of Hummel
A sales record for the anniversary
Just in time for the company's 70th anniversary, Hummel from Denzlingen has set a new turnover record. Last year, the owner-managed family business generated a turnover of 71.5 million euros, an increase of 12.1 percent compared to the previous year. "This is a fantastic result, as we have grown significantly faster than the industry as a whole," says Holger Hummel, who is the third generation of the family to run the company as CEO.
Last year, the medium-sized, family-owned company recorded its biggest growth in the circular connector segment. Here, demand for individual product lines increased by more than 20 percent. The reason: connection technology is regarded as one of the key technologies in the digitalization of production processes. Hummel offers intelligent solutions for the transmission of power, signals and data in industrial production. "These technologies are our focus. They are an essential part of our future strategy," adds Holger Hummel.
Almost 600 employees work for the group worldwide. Hummel has nine foreign subsidiaries, five of which also have production facilities. In addition, there is a global partner network to ensure that the products are available on all five continents. The foreign markets made a significant contribution to last year's sales growth. All subsidiaries were able to increase sales, and even Brazil managed to turn things around after years of crisis.
The company currently employs 337 people at its two German sites in Denzlingen and Waldkirch, including 22 trainees. Training has traditionally been a high priority. In addition to commercial apprenticeships, the company also offers industrial apprenticeships in the fields of metal and plastics processing.
