"Digital in NRW" at the all about automation trade fair
Developments in the field of industrial automation and communication will be the focus of all about automation on June 5 and 6, 2019 in Essen. "Digital in NRW - Competence for SMEs" will also be represented at the industry get-together with exhibits and contributions as part of the lecture program.
The presentations will focus on practical reports of solutions already in use. On Thursday morning, Digital in NRW will present practical, smart strategies and measures for the digital transformation of small and medium-sized companies in two specialist presentations in the Talk Lounge (Hall 1, Stand 100). At 10 a.m., Phil Hermanski (Fraunhofer IML, Dortmund) will speak on "From hype to reality: Industry 4.0 on the ground", before Jan Hicking (FIR e. V. at RWTH Aachen University) presents a "Service portfolio for the smartification of products".
Collaborative robotics or AI-based order picking?
Interested trade visitors can find out how these strategies and digitalization measures can be successfully put into practice at the Digital-in-NRW stand 609. Two demonstrators show what is already feasible today using existing standards with regard to the Industry 4.0 vision:
A collaborative workstation for assembly and testing tasks from the WZL machine tool laboratory at RWTH Aachen University demonstrates the optimization of the assembly of multi-variant products through cooperation between humans and robots. The process can be flexibly adapted to new product variants and enables sustainable and economical operation.
The mobile demonstrator "ChAIn" from the FIR at RWTH Aachen University focuses on the optimization of assembly and picking processes as well as processes in goods inspection and acceptance through the combination of AI and blockchain: trade fair visitors experience a picking process that is monitored by a camera system with object recognition based on neural networks. The picking data is stored live in the networked, encrypted data records of a blockchain. The blockchain checks whether the underlying customer order has been fulfilled correctly. as
