IE3 energy-saving motors from SEW
The success story of energy-saving motors continues
In spring 2023, SEW-Eurodrive delivered the two millionth DRN... motor to a customer in Germany - worldwide the figure is already ten million. A good estimate for the total number of these IE3 motors is more than 50,000 GWh of energy savings.
The two millionth IE3 motor from the DRN.. series went to Vollert Anlagenbau. The medium-sized machine and plant manufacturer based in Weinsberg produces and sells automated conveyor systems and material flow systems. In more than 90 years, it has developed from a small metalworking shop into an international general contractor with branches in Asia and South America.
The globally active SEW-Eurodrive Group achieved even more records. SEW-Eurodrive (Tianjin) in China, for example, delivered the two millionth DRN. motor in its country. And the employees of SEW-Eurodrive Inc. in Lyman are delighted with the order for the one millionth DRN. motor from a customer in the USA.
Increase efficiency, reduce losses
SEW has been selling energy-saving motors from the DRN.. series in the premium efficiency class, internationally known as IE3, since 2015 and successfully supplies this energy-saving version to equipment suppliers and end users. A total of ten million IE3 motors have already been successfully installed worldwide. They ensure a considerable reduction in the primary electrical energy required: more than 50,000 gigawatt hours compared to the old motor series.
The basis: full load at 100 percent rated output and 8,760 hours of annual operating time. Based on a calculation of 650 grams ofCO2 per kilowatt hour, this results in a reduction in emissions of around 33 million tons ofCO2. This is an important contribution and part of SEW's overall efforts to increase energy efficiency and reduce energy losses.
