Frequency inverter
The new generation is getting smaller
Yaskawa introduces a new series of frequency inverters, the GA500, which extends the current generation with a compact model for industrial applications.
The GA500 compact inverters have a space-saving design, are flexible in terms of interfaces and are equipped with efficient motor control for different motor types. This means they can meet the requirements of almost any application. The most important functions include: integrated EMC filter, the two-channel STO safety function with SIL3/PLe, control of up to five inverters via just one fieldbus card as well as intuitive and convenient setup and monitoring via smartphone apps.
Thanks to their design, the compact inverters can also be operated at altitudes of up to 4,000 meters and in hot environments of up to 60 degrees Celsius. The circuit boards are coated as standard and therefore protected against dust and moisture. The temperature-controlled cooling fans only run when required, minimizing soiling and extending maintenance intervals. A bright LED display and tactile keypad ensure simple and intuitive navigation through the menus.
The embedded DriveworksEZ programming environment allows the simple implementation of specific processes and functions and offers the option of dispensing with external controllers. This saves space and costs. The devices in the GA500 series can be programmed with a PC or smartphone via the built-in USB port - even when switched off and without a mains supply.
The easily accessible power terminals enable quick and convenient connection of mains and motor cables without the need to remove housing covers. Screwless terminals for the control cables also ensure long-lasting, reliable connections. The internal 24-volt DC power supply provides an additional 150 milliamperes for connecting external sensors, in addition to supplying the I/Os, so that no separate power supply is required. Thanks to the optimum design of the frequency inverter, even a motor of the next size up can be operated at normal power in variable torque applications. as
