Stepper motors
Hybrid motor for small installation space
At just 16 mm wide, the Nema 6 hybrid stepper motor from Lin Engineering is one of the smallest of its kind. The manufacturer has increased the motor's step angle from the usual 1.8° to 3.46°, so that the drive is said to achieve a holding torque of 13.06 mN-m, which is around twice as high as comparable stepper motors from competitors.
Compared to standard stepper motors of the same size with permanent magnets, the stepper motor even offers four times the holding torque. According to the manufacturer, this also applies to accuracy: while conventional motors deliver a resolution of 20 steps per revolution, the Nema 06 achieves 104 - at over 8,000 revolutions per minute. This makes the stepper suitable for use in applications with minimal installation space and high demands on the precision of the components, such as in miniature pumps, throttles, optical sensor controls, pinch valves or electronic pipettes. However, as these applications usually involve very sensitive devices or systems, precise and professional configuration of the stepper motor is essential. sw
