Stepper motor

Disc magnet motor

Following the takeover of Dimatech, a Swiss manufacturer of high-performance stepper motors, Faulhaber now also offers this type of motor with higher performance and greater dynamics.

The main difference between the disc magnet motor and conventional motors is the lightweight rotor: it consists of a multi-pole magnet in the form of a disc that is mounted on the motor shaft. Its low weight minimizes the rotor inertia and enables an acceleration that cannot be achieved with any other technology in these dimensions. This type of motor is therefore particularly suitable for applications in which the speed or direction changes frequently and quickly. Due to its design, it is also predestined for executing small and precise stepping movements. The size of the magnetic poles and the shape of the magnetic circuit are also designed to achieve the highest possible torque in relation to the rotor dimensions. With their specific properties, these motors are suitable for automation applications in which small loads have to be moved very quickly - for example in the semiconductor and textile industries as well as in medical technology and robotics. pb
