Soft starter
Prevent damage and save energy
CG Drives & Automation presents a new range of Emotron TSA soft starters from 5.5 to 1000 kW (16-960 A and 200-690 V). This includes the new sizes TSA 5 and 6 for high power applications (470-960 A).
They have been developed to ensure operational safety and energy efficiency and have numerous integrated safety functions as standard, such as thermal motor protection, intelligent load monitoring, a thermistor input and a bypass contactor.
Smooth torque starts and intelligent stops are complemented by a stable and compact design: The TSA soft starter is a cost-effective motor controller for applications where variable speed is not required.
The 3-phase torque control enables higher starting torque and lower currents. Smooth torque starts and stops and the powerful vector brake for high inertia loads are perfect for many applications such as pumps, saws, crushers, mixers and centrifuges.
With a starter efficiency of more than 99.6 % from the bypass contactor and full programmability of the soft starter, the TSA offers every opportunity to save energy.
Product Manager Pär Ölund explains: "With a real-time clock, you can customize the functions and create a schedule tailored to your requirements. Thanks to the plug-and-play functionality and intuitive user interface, many of our customers carry out the installation and programming themselves."
The new sizes 5 and 6 are able to handle heavy loads right from the start, which is often necessary for conveyor belts and crushers, for example. Torque boosting is used to overcome initial torque peaks. The starting capacity is 300 % for 30 seconds.
The Emotron TSA offers great flexibility in operation. It can operate with different start and stop modes, brake functions for fast stopping, a soft brake and a slow speed/jog mode. Flexible communication options, Smart I/O and a PC tool for commissioning and parameter monitoring round off the product range.
"The Emotron TSA softstarter is a real workhorse. It has been developed for demanding environments with painted circuit boards and can therefore withstand the toughest conditions. With more than 40 years of experience in the field, we can guarantee strength and performance in your application," concludes Pär Ölund.
