Washable drives
Nord Drivesystems has expanded its range of highly efficient smooth motors. The permanent magnet synchronous motors without cooling fins fulfill efficiency class IE4. This opens up interesting possibilities for the food, beverage and pharmaceutical industries and other hygienically demanding applications.
The efficient smooth motors are just as suitable for dry areas as for applications with frequent cleaning requirements. They emit hardly any waste heat and are not ventilated, meaning they do not contribute to the spread of germs. The IE4 synchronous smooth motors deliver significantly higher efficiencies than asynchronous motors, especially in the partial load range. This reduces operating and service life costs enormously. The design features a high power density and a long product service life. Frequency inverters can be flexibly installed close to the drive or integrated into the motor. Three motor sizes 80, 90 and 100 are available - with rated outputs from 0.75 to 2.2 kilowatts. They complement the existing range of asynchronous smooth motors from 0.37 to 1.1 kilowatts.
The motors are optionally supplied with a brake. On request, the manufacturer can configure washdown-capable intelligent drive systems that comply with protection class IP66/IP69K. Four gearbox series are available for this purpose. The washdown-optimized drive units are manufactured with die-cast aluminium housings with smooth surfaces from which cleaning fluids and foam run off easily.
