North at the Logimat

Smart drive systems for intralogistics

At Logimat, Nord Drivesystems will be focusing on the latest energy-efficient IE5+ synchronous motors, condition monitoring concepts and a mobile service tool.

The standardized geared motor variants of the Logidrive systems from Nord are specially tailored to intralogistics, parcel logistics and airport technology and are suitable for reducing the number of variants. The design is space-saving and the lightweight aluminum housing ensures a weight saving of 25 percent, according to the company. The Logidrive drives consist of an IE4 synchronous motor with rated outputs of up to 5.5 kilowatts, a two-stage helical bevel gearbox and a Nordac Link frequency inverter, which is installed close to the motor. The drive units with motor efficiency class IE4 and system efficiency class IES2 achieve excellent levels of efficiency, especially in the partial load and partial speed range.

At Logimat, Nord will also be presenting the Logidrive concept in combination with an energy-efficient IE5+ permanent magnet synchronous motor of the latest generation, which has lower losses than the current IE4 series. The compact and unventilated smooth motor achieves its high efficiency, which in some cases is well above efficiency class IE5, over a wide torque range and is therefore ideal for intralogistics applications and economical operation in the partial load range.

Condition monitoring for predictive maintenance
The frequency inverters can be used to regularly or permanently record drive and status data in order to optimize the operational reliability and efficiency of machines and systems. This information can also be used to develop concepts for predictive maintenance. The basis for this is the evaluation of analog and digital data (measured values, signals and operating parameters) by the intelligent PLC in the drive electronics.

The aim of predictive maintenance is to proactively maintain machines and systems and detect changes, reduce downtimes and increase overall system effectiveness. Nord pursues a drive-based approach in which information from condition monitoring is transferred to predictive maintenance using intelligent algorithms and virtual sensor technology. This includes, for example, sensorless determination of the optimum oil change time based on the oil temperature.

Solution for mobile use

With the Nordcon app and the mobile Bluetooth connection Nordac Access BT, the manufacturer has created a mobile commissioning and service solution for all electronic components. It is used for the analysis, monitoring and parameterization of drive systems. The dashboard-based visualization can be used for drive monitoring and fault diagnosis. The parameterization of drives can be implemented using a help function and quick parameter access. as
