Robust and suitable for harsh environments

Yaskawa has introduced a new series of AC microdrives for industrial applications. With its functions and features, the GA500 frequency inverter simplifies the operation of a machine or system.

The inverters in the GA500 series have a space-saving design, are flexible in terms of interfaces and are equipped with efficient control for different motor types. The most important functions include: integrated EMC filter, the two-channel STO safety function with SIL3/PLe, control of up to five inverters via just one fieldbus card and intuitive and convenient setup and monitoring via smartphone apps.

Thanks to their robust design, the compact inverters can also be operated at altitudes of up to 4000 m and in environments of up to 60 °C. The circuit boards are coated as standard and therefore protected against dust and moisture. The temperature-controlled fans only run when required. An LED display and tactile keypad ensure simple and intuitive navigation. The menus and parameters are arranged and named according to the familiar pattern of Yaskawa frequency inverters, so that training requirements are reduced to a minimum.

The embedded programming environment DriveWorksEZ from Yaskawa allows the simple implementation of specific processes and functions and offers the option of dispensing with external controllers. The devices can be programmed with a PC or smartphone via the built-in USB port. The easily accessible power terminals enable quick connection of mains and motor cables without having to remove housing covers. Screwless terminals for the control cables also ensure durable connections. The internal 24 VDC power supply provides an additional 150 mA for connecting external sensors.
