Precise positioning with electric cylinders

IMI Precision Engineering has introduced the new Norgren Elion electric cylinder series. The electromechanical actuators with piston rod round off the manufacturer's range of pneumatic and hydraulic cylinders.

IMI Norgren Elion are suitable when precise control, accurate positioning and repeatability are required. The ISO 15552 based electric cylinders can be found in applications in industries such as automotive, food & beverage, packaging & labeling, material handling and machine tools.

The acceleration and speed of the electric cylinders are adjustable. A large number of intermediate positions can therefore be approached with high precision and repeat accuracy. This good controllability allows the cylinders to slide into position without stopping abruptly. Norgren Elions are suitable for applications where vibrations and disruptive movements are unacceptable. The positioning flexibility allows several drives to move synchronously without having to stop or overrun the position.

As the motor of the electromechanical drive is only supplied with power when movement is required or an external force is present, the electric cylinders can also help to reduce operating costs and improve the working environment.

The introduction of two IMI Norgren Elion rodless drive series is planned for fall 2019. as
