Maxon Motor is equipping its positioning controllers from the Epos4 series with additional connectivity options. They can now be integrated into Ethercat networks as slaves using an expansion card.

The Epos4 positioning controllers from Maxon Motor can now communicate via Ethercat in accordance with the CoE standard (CAN application layer over Ethercat). The Ethercat card developed for this purpose can be combined with the Epos4 controllers in the housing and with all Epos4 modules. The company announced that compact versions in Ethercat design will follow at a later date.

Thanks to this extension to the world of Ethernet-based communication protocols, the field of application for the compact positioning controllers has been further expanded - including for areas where short cycle times in synchronized multi-axis systems count. Epos4 controllers are suitable for controlling both brushed and brushless DC motors. They impress with their power density and attractive price-performance ratio. Customers receive additional services for simple commissioning free of charge, such as an intuitive user interface, libraries and practical examples. as
