New technology complex
Topping-out ceremony in Jena
Jenaer Antriebstechnik expands its headquarters in order to be able to meet the demand for customized drive solutions more quickly with higher production capacities and development resources.
JAT (Jenaer Antriebstechnik) has reached the first milestone on the way to higher production capacities, development resources and more attractive working conditions. The shell of the building has been completed and the company has celebrated the topping-out ceremony for the production and technology complex.
Work on the foundations began in October 2017. A 30-metre-deep pile foundation will also be used to heat and cool the new building entirely with geothermal energy. The use of environmentally friendly materials throughout the building also highlights the client's environmental focus.
Architect Stefan Rabe, pbr Planungsbüro Rohling, explained the key data of the new building: The new complex combines two areas. Modern development laboratories and offices for individual and team work as well as lounge areas for spontaneous meetings will be created on an area of more than 3,500 square meters. More than 1,700 square meters of production and storage space are also planned.
All JAT employees voted on the artistic design of the exterior façade. The design by Erfurt artist Thomas Lindner was chosen and will be implemented as the "signature of the building".
"With a planned construction sum of eleven million euros, we are investing in the future," says Stephan Preuß, Managing Director of JAT. The new premises offer sufficient space for 140 workstations. The new production capacities will also enable faster implementation from prototype to series product. The company plans to move into the new building at the end of 2019. as
