New gearboxes for belt conveyor systems
Nord's Maxxdrive industrial gearboxes are suitable for use in heavy-duty applications. The company is now introducing the new Maxxdrive XT series, which complements the modular system for applications with high thermal limit powers.
Maxxdrive industrial gearboxes have been part of the Nord range for ten years. The latest generation supplements the series with a two-stage helical bevel gearbox, which is particularly suitable for belt conveyor systems and can be individually tailored to the respective application. The power and speed range has been specially adapted to industries in which low ratios in combination with high performance are required.
This is the case in the bulk materials and minerals industry, for example. Particularly robust solutions that are resistant to dirt and reliable in harsh operating conditions are required there. This requires special sealing concepts with the lowest possible maintenance requirements. The drive systems should therefore also be able to operate without external cooling.
Cooling concept for high power limits
The output torques of the Maxxdrive XT series are between 15 and 75 kilonewton meters with a transmission ratio range of 6.3 to 22.4. Industrial gearboxes are available in seven sizes for outputs from 50 to 1,500 kilowatts. In contrast to the previous designs, the series is equipped with a heavily ribbed block housing and an integrated axial fan as standard. The enlarged surface area and the air guide hoods optimize the air cooling flow and achieve a high thermal limit output. This means that additional cooling options can be dispensed with in many cases. Large roller bearings and center distances increase the load capacity and service life of the components.
The complete Nord drive solutions are customized according to the modular principle. Thanks to the coordinated modular system, attractive solutions can also be offered for price-sensitive sectors, according to the company. The basis is a range of frequency inverters, motors, gearboxes and clutch and brake systems. Features such as hydraulic couplings tailored to the process and gearbox or Taconite seals, which effectively protect shaft seals against abrasive dusts and corrosive influences, are designed to ensure smooth operation.
Networked maintenance concepts
Nord also offers predictive maintenance concepts specifically for heavy industrial gearboxes. The drives networked via the frequency inverter can communicate their status data via the control system or directly to a secure cloud. Optional vibration monitoring enables changes in the condition to be detected at an early stage and maintenance to be planned in good time. The recording of performance data also ensures optimized system dimensioning and continuous condition monitoring of the drives. as
