Update on decentralized drive technology

SEW-Eurodrive is adding decentralized drive technology components to its Movi-C modular automation system. The first product is the Movigear performance mechatronic drive unit with integrated electronics in the communication version for direct fieldbus control.

Within the Movi-C modular automation box, this is the first product for decentralized installation. Movigear performance with direct fieldbus connection is primarily intended for the field of dynamic conveyor technology with speed-controlled axes through to positioning tasks. Communication takes place via fieldbus interfaces such as Profinet IO, Ethernet/IP and Modbus TCP as well as the integrated digital inputs and outputs. The new drive unit is characterized by its compactness and high overload capacity. Thanks to the highest achievable energy efficiency class of the IE5 motor in accordance with IEC TS 60034-30-2 and maximum system efficiency in accordance with IEC 61800-9-2, Movigear performance outperforms previous, commercially available solutions.

The new products expand the application possibilities of the Bruchsal-based company's decentralized drive technology, which has been tried and tested for decades. In order to combine their advantages with those of the Movi-C modular automation system, the decentralized drive systems have been further developed on the basis of the Movi-C portfolio. They complement the previous products in terms of functionality and consistency. Typical areas of application for the new product portfolio are the food and beverage industry, intralogistics and parcel logistics, as well as the automotive industry and airports. pb
