Frequency inverters for high-speed applications
In 2022, Sieb & Meyer will offer a total of nine sizes of the new SD4x series of frequency inverters, which cover and expand the current power range of the SD2S series.
In addition, the possibilities of the SD4x logic platform will also be available for the SD2M models. "The aim is for the SD4x devices to gradually replace the frequency inverters of the SD2x series," says Ralph Sawallisch, Key Account Manager Drive Electronics at Sieb & Meyer. The SD4S will initially be available in five sizes in the 230 V class, followed by four additional sizes in the 400 V class. These devices extend the power range of the SD2S series from 0.8 to 66 kVA.
At the same time, the SD2M series will become the SD4M series. The main advantages for customers will be the improvements in control technology and the Ethernet-based bus systems. When switching from the SD2x to the SD4x series, the parameters from the SD2x devices can be adopted. "In terms of functionality and control technology, the SD4x series offers the user improvements over the previous SD2x series, for example the extension of the speed range of the sensorless vector control to up to 240,000 rpm," says Sawallisch.
"Initial positive practical experience with sensorless synchronous motors in the speed range up to 180,000 min-1 (3,000 Hz) has already been gained." With the predecessor series, the limit for sensorless operation was 120,000 min-1 (2,000 Hz).
