Expansion of disk magnet motors

According to the company, Faulhaber's magnetic disk motors are more powerful. The motors are useful for automation applications thanks to their high acceleration and directional change capability, which is partly due to the low weight of the motor types.

Faulhaber has taken over Dimatech and redesigned its stepper motors. According to the company, the new motor types are offered with higher performance and greater dynamics. The disc magnet motor differs from conventional motors due to its lightweight rotor. This consists of a multi-pole magnet in the form of a disk, which is mounted on the motor shaft. The low weight reduces the rotor inertia and allows an acceleration that cannot be achieved in these dimensions with other technologies. This type of motor is suitable for applications in which speeds or directions change frequently and quickly. It is able to perform small, precise stepping movements and achieve the highest possible torque in relation to the rotor dimensions.

Their properties make them suitable for automation applications where small loads need to be moved very quickly. This is often the case in the semiconductor and textile industries as well as in medical technology and robotics. The low weight and small size is an advantage of the motors, especially where the motor moves with the load. They have a high power density and can also be used in full-step, half-step and micro-step operation.
