Brushless high-performance motors

Driving force with 16 millimeter diameter

The new Faulhaber series 1660 ... BHx delivers high speed and power values in relation to dimensions and weight, with low vibration and heat generation, which were unimaginable until recently. The drive series is suitable for handpieces with high power requirements and limited installation space.

The BHx series consists of new gapless, brushless high-performance motors in two-pole technology with a diameter of 16 millimetres. Thanks to their robust, compact design and performance data, the motors in this new product family are particularly suitable for demanding applications such as dental handpieces, medical robotics systems and electric grippers as well as laboratory equipment, professional hand tools and robotics.

In order to best meet the requirements of individual applications, the BHx series is available in two different motor versions, both of which are 60 millimetres long and designed for high speeds and high torques.

The 1660...BHS series achieves speeds of up to 100,000 revolutions per minute, delivers an output of 96 watts and therefore meets even the most demanding requirements. The series is suitable for devices that run over a long period of time and where the housing temperature must be kept low, for example for hand tools with high speeds.

In addition, the 1660...BHT series delivers a continuous output torque of almost 19 millinewton meters and can also handle variable loads. With only 95 revolutions per minute/millinewton metre, the extremely flat speed-torque characteristic curve helps to minimize speed fluctuations and thus ensures a constant speed and smooth running. For special applications, the motor can generate a pulse torque of more than 30 millinewton meters. Such high performance was previously only achieved by much larger motors. These properties make the 1660...BHT series a solution for recurring intermittent operation with high dynamics, but also for precise positioning tasks.

With their long form factor and very low-vibration and quiet running, the two series 1660...BHS and 1660...BHT are particularly suitable for low-noise hand tools that cause little fatigue to their users, even during prolonged use. The low rotor moment of inertia enables fine control of the motor by the drive electronics and ensures extremely smooth running.

The motors in the family can be combined with high-resolution magnetic encoders, planetary gearboxes and control units from the Faulhaber portfolio. as
