Shaft gearboxes for low-cost automation
In order to realize movements on the fifth robot axis, for example, at low cost, Igus has new types of shaft gears. Thanks to the use of Iglidur high-performance plastics, the shaft gears do not need to be additionally lubricated like metal versions, and friction and wear are optimized.
The main components of the gearboxes comprise a shaft generator and flex ring with external gearing as well as a housing-fixed outer ring and a rotatable output element with internal gearing. The shaft gearbox can be used in the last axis of articulated arm robots, gantry robots and delta robots in front of various gripper systems. At this point, it takes on the task of gripping and precisely positioning non-rotationally symmetrical objects. The current development is based on the Nema 17 size for direct connection to a stepper motor and can be adapted to other motor types. The next step is to transfer the development steps to the Nema 23 size. as
