Sumitomo Cyclo Drive Germany is launching E-Cyclo, a newly designed family of particularly compact gearboxes that are ideal for high-precision applications such as handling robots and collaborative robots (cobots).

The "E" in E-Cyclo stands for "elastic", as the gearbox combines the principles of the shaft gearbox and the cycloidal gearbox. From fall 2018, E-Cyclo will be available in two sizes, and from spring 2019 in three sizes, each with three ratios. E-Cyclo offers backlash-free power transmission with maximum rigidity and transmission accuracy. The ECY105 measures just 84 millimetres in outer diameter and 52 millimetres in length. It has a hollow shaft diameter of 21 millimetres and weighs 1.2 kilograms. The E-Cyclo gearboxes have a relatively large hollow shaft for supply lines, shafts and other media. The integrated bearing enables high output-side loads, such as those that occur when used in machine tools, positioners and robotics. They cover nominal operating torques of 25 to 63 Newton meters and can even be loaded with acceleration torques of up to 137 Newton meters. E-Cyclo gearboxes are lubricated for life ex works, completely sealed and maintenance-free. pb
