Thomas Weis in management
Bühler Motor: New Managing Director and CFO
Thomas Weis has been the new Chief Financial Officer of the Bühler Motor Group since the beginning of the year and will manage the company together with Mark Furtwängler. As CFO, he is responsible for Controlling, Finance, Taxes and Internal Audit as well as Information Technology (IT) and Management Information Systems (MIS).
Peter Muhr, most recently Co-CEO of the Bühler Motor Group and Managing Director of Bühler Motor GmbH, has taken early retirement on December 31, 2019 for health reasons. He is leaving the company after 14 years, during which he made a significant contribution to adapting the company to the changing markets and growing challenges.
Thomas Weis has been on board at Bühler Motor since 2002. He began his career at Bühler Motor as Head of Controlling at Bühler Motor GmbH. In 2004, he took over responsibility for global controlling as Vice President. Weis also played a key role in establishing the Compliance and Internal Audit departments. At the beginning of 2017, he took on responsibility for IT & MIS in addition to his controlling and compliance duties.
"The appointment of Thomas Weis comes at exactly the right time. He has not only accompanied years of positive growth for us, but also the economically difficult years of 2003/2004 and 2008/2009. It is precisely this experience from which we can now benefit in particular against the backdrop of the current market situation. I am also gaining a real team player in him: strong in communication, coordination and implementation," says owner and CEO Mark Furtwängler.
"I am looking forward to taking on even greater responsibility for the sustainable positive development of the company. I am convinced that with close cooperation in a strong team, we will also master the challenges of the future," says Thomas Weis.
Before joining Bühler Motor, Thomas Weis gained extensive experience as commercial manager at Oberflächentechnik Schmidt in Nuremberg, a supplier of refined surfaces for the telecommunications sector. From 1990 until he joined Schmidt, he was Head of Controlling at Alcan Deutschland (later Federal Mogul), among other positions.
