The modules such as Roba-brake-checker or Roba-torqcontrol from Mayr enable permanent brake monitoring and make the safety brakes fit for the challenges of Industry 4.0.

The Roba-brake-checker module works without sensors. Instead, it detects the movement of the armature plate by analyzing the current and voltage and knows what state the brake is in. The module can also draw conclusions about temperature, wear and traction reserve, i.e. whether the magnet still has enough force to attract the armature disk. When the traction reserve is reached, the Roba-brake-checker sends an early warning signal that the brake still has a certain amount of operating time left.

The module is now available in a version for AC voltage. The Roba-torqcontrol braking torque control module is suitable for applications that also require braking torque control. It shares the properties of the Roba-brake-checker and can also change the level of braking torque during operation by selectively influencing the current and voltage. Another module is the Roba-SBCplus safe brake control. With this module, Mayr offers safety brakes and safe brake control in a complete package. The module was developed together with Pilz for applications that have to meet the requirements for personal protection in accordance with functional safety standards. as
