Asynchronous motors
Ex and efficient
Drive technology manufacturer WEG offers explosion-proof asynchronous motors from the W22Xd series in accordance with IE classification standards - up to energy efficiency class IE4.
Energy costs account for between 95 and 97 percent of the total life cycle costs of electric motors, depending on the application. This means that investments in energy-efficient drives usually pay for themselves within a short period of time. According to WEG, reduced operating costs mean that companies can save 20 to 40 percent on costs with Ex motors from the W22Xd series compared to conventional models. In order to adapt this drive solution to the demanding Ex area, WEG transferred the housing design of the W22 standard asynchronous motors to the explosion-proof motors.
The design of the W22Xd series incorporates a modern cooling system with an aerodynamic concept to reduce noise levels and improve heat dissipation. The robust housing with integrated solid feet allows the Ex motors to be used in even the most demanding applications and reduces vibration and noise. The W22Xd are designed for harsh operating conditions. The IP56 protection class prevents the ingress of liquids. Thermistors integrated as standard protect the motor winding in the event of an overload. Heaters inside the motor prevent condensation from forming. A special polyurethane coating protects the motor surface. Sturdy eyebolts facilitate handling, transportation and storage of the solid motors. pb
