Cohesion between locations

25th anniversary of Mayr Polska

The Mauerstetten-based mechanical engineering company Mayr Antriebstechnik is celebrating the 25th anniversary of its site in Poland. The former small production facility has now developed into a modern, efficient industrial company with around 400 employees - with active support from the Allgäu region. Mayr is also regarded as an attractive, stable employer in Poland and stands for reliability and long-term security across borders in a world that is becoming increasingly fast-moving and uncertain.

The special thing about Mayr Antriebstechnik as an employer is its orientation as a family business. The Mayr family has been behind the company since it was founded in 1897. Today, Ferdinand Mayr is the fifth generation to manage the company. "We consider our company and all of our employees to be part of the Mayr family," he explains. "For us as the owner family, it is important to be there in the company, to help shape it and to put our values into practice." The 25th anniversary of Mayr Polska shows that employees can rely on this not only in Mauerstetten, but worldwide. "The site in Ostrzeszow was founded in 1994 as a small production facility," recalls Christoph Dropmann, who, as head of the research and development department in Mauerstetten, is also the head of Mayr Polska's management. Since 1999, together with his Allgäu colleagues Christian Illig (Head of Finance and Human Resources) and Peter Daffner (Head of Order Center and Logistics), he has turned it into a modern and efficient industrial company with around 400 employees. Today, the machine park comprises around 100 turning and milling machines. In 2018 alone, 1.5 million individual parts were manufactured on these machines. Around 35% of production now goes directly to end customers worldwide. "This was only possible thanks to the active support of a dedicated management team on site in Poland," emphasizes Christian Illig. "We are also proud and grateful that we were also able to honor five Mayr Polska employees from the very beginning for their 25 years of loyalty to the company as part of the anniversary celebrations. Well-trained and motivated employees who help shape the future with their ideas are a guarantee of our success."

Cross-border cohesion between Mayr employees

But it is not only the cooperation between Mauerstetten and Ostrzeszow that works well. The fact that the Mayr brass band came along to the anniversary celebrations shows that there is also strong cohesion between the employees. The 30 experienced Allgäu brass musicians, conducted by Herbert Ried, provided a worthy setting for the festive evening and the family celebration the following day. "Our musicians brought a piece of Allgäu tradition to Poland as Mayr ambassadors, so to speak," added Peter Daffner.

Europe as a common home

All Mayr employees in Mauerstetten and Ostrzeszow are also united under the umbrella of the European Union, to whose benefits and achievements Mayr Antriebstechnik is clearly committed. This was made clear, among other things, by the participation in the Go-Vote campaign of the VDMA (German Engineering Federation) in the run-up to this year's European elections and the associated call to all employees in Mauerstetten and at the site in Poland to vote. Nevertheless, the company is also taking every opportunity to campaign for issues at European level and to defend itself against bureaucratic hurdles. This is because issues such as the EU regulation on the A1 certificate for business trips to other European countries or preferential customs regulations affect the sites in Mauerstetten and Ostrzeszow equally.

Internationally well equipped for the future

Mayr also recently commissioned a new hall in Poland. "With these investments, we are creating jobs and are well equipped to continue working successfully in the future," explains Managing Director Günther Klingler. "Because Mayr Polska is an important guarantor for the future development and success of the Mayr Group as a whole." The plant in Poland will not only enable Mayr Antriebstechnik in Mauerstetten to retain jobs, but also to expand and develop capacities, particularly in the area of key technology. "Mayr quality means 'quality made in Germany', regardless of location," adds Günther Klingler. "The same quality standards apply to the subsidiaries in Poland and China as in Germany. The operational quality management system there is certified to ISO 9001, just like at the parent company in Mauerstetten. Our supply chains are stable and have grown over many years. For Mayr Antriebstechnik, uncompromising quality therefore means the integrity of the values of safety, reliability and innovation throughout the entire company. From the offer to the after-sales service on site. Worldwide, in all subsidiaries and agencies. This is why Mayr Antriebstechnik will remain a reliable partner in the future - for customers, suppliers and employees."
