Laser welding

Andrea Gillhuber,

Butt seam welding of pressure vessels

For the production of pressure vessels and water tanks, Weil Technology offers a complete package with a continuous process chain from the coil to the fully laser-welded product.

Laser welding

The system can be used to produce containers with a tube diameter of 120 to 600 mm, a maximum tube length of 2,000 mm and a sheet thickness of 2.5 mm. A circumferential seam welding machine is integrated into the system. Butt welding replaces overlap seams and prevents unwelded sheet edges. This enables a welding speed that is 3 to 5 times faster, explains the company. Other advantages of the process include reduced heat input during the welding process, less welding spatter and a visually appealing weld seam.
