Workpiece carrier system and logistics control

Stein Automation has put together an exciting product package for this year's Motek: The specialists for workpiece carrier systems are presenting their new 5G logistics controller and the Stein 400 workpiece carrier system at the international trade fair for production and assembly automation.

This is suitable for particularly heavy components weighing up to 80 kg. With its powerful motor, a wide belt and clever features such as the tried-and-tested Softmove, the Stein 400 transports even large components on its workpiece carriers safely and gently through the production process.

The user can therefore operate more flexibly and, for example, move light and heavy parts simultaneously on a single system in mixed production. A major advantage of the Stein 400: roller cassettes are installed under the belt. This means that the user benefits from low wear, low energy consumption and a clean system.

Also on show in Stuttgart: the new Stein 5G logistics control system. Instead of the previously used fiber optic cables, Stein relies on Ethernet for internal communication. This makes the user even more flexible. Five interface slots enable communication via common interfaces such as Profibus or Modbus. This allows up to 1,400 bytes to be transferred and several read heads to be operated with one control unit. For Industry 4.0 applications, the 5G can also be easily connected to higher-level controllers thanks to OPC UA, for example. In line with the motto "configuring instead of programming", the user sets up the new development in a user-friendly way via the PC and operates it on the large display using self-explanatory, interactive buttons.

Stein Automation is venturing into a new business area next year and will be presenting its first practical solution for intralogistics at Motek. We will not be revealing what it is at this point. Stein Automation will only reveal this secret at Motek.
