Control processes remotely

Virtual HMI enables PLC operation via smartphone

Spectra's UniStream Virtual HMI is a multi-function PLC controller that provides users with advanced communication support, a variety of integrated I/O configurations and a virtual HMI.

Usually, the control of processes with a PLC (programmable logic controller) runs fully automatically after the initial parameterization. For some applications, however, it is essential that the operator or technician can still call up and set the process data at any time. Platform-independent remote access makes this process much easier and faster. And the cost savings due to the elimination of expensive display hardware are considerable.

Spectra presents the new virtual HMI models of the UniStream PLC series, which enable precisely this simple operation. They no longer have an integrated touch display, but behave in exactly the same way for the programmer as the models with an integrated touch display. All display and operating elements are completely defined and parameterized within the free Unilogic development environment. And with an app available for all operating systems, the user interface of the UniStream PLC can be easily displayed on a smartphone, tablet or PC.

The UniStream Virtual HMI series is available in Classic, Standard and Pro versions. The variants differ in terms of I/O expandability, interface options for communication with other systems, SD card support and the scope of special software functions such as web servers or PID control loops.

However, if a touch display is required directly on the system or machine, the Virtual HMI series can be easily retrofitted with a display or connected to a display via Ethernet.
