Real-time Ethernet
TSN in Industrial Ethernet networks
Real-time networks are playing an increasingly important role in the control of modern production facilities. Hirschmann offers the option of a simple TSN configuration on several devices in order to set up the networks efficiently and quickly throughout production.
Belden offers a complete package for the configuration and deployment of TSN in Industrial Ethernet networks. This industrial-grade solution from Hirschmann combines the TSN firmware versions of Hirschmann's RSPE and Octopus II industrial Ethernet switches with the Industrial Hi-Vision 8.0 network management software, which supports TSN configuration and monitoring functions.
Industrial HiVision's MultiConfig tool enables TSN configuration without having to log in to each device and set parameters such as time synchronization and the TSN schedule individually. The combination of Industrial HiVision and the TSN firmware on the switches allows TSN to be used effectively in production environments and evaluation networks. By extending the integrated dashboard function, Industrial HiVision can visualize TSN schedules and makes it easier for the operator to monitor TSN operation. Since TSN is based on standardized IEEE 802 Ethernet technology, it can be seamlessly integrated into existing Industrial Ethernet infrastructures. Industrial HiVision is a powerful network
network management software. It allows users to conveniently configure and monitor devices in networks of different sizes. The multi
Config function provides a TSN tool that can be used to configure all TSN mechanisms, from a single switch to the entire automation network. With Industrial HiVision, up to 16 devices can be configured and monitored free of charge. Hirschmann's products are based on open standards and therefore offer a future-proof solution.
The new version 07.3.00 of the HiOS operating system supports the industrial Ethernet switches RSPE and Octopus II, an IP67-protected industrial Ethernet switch with TSN function, which is available as a free firmware upgrade. It enables users to familiarize themselves with the key technology TSN without having to purchase a starter set, for example. "By combining the Industrial HiVision network management system with unique features for monitoring and configuring TSN mechanisms, customers can immediately and effectively deploy TSN from a single device to an entire network," says Dr. Oliver Kleineberg, Global CTO Industrial Networking.
"TSN technology is a key driver for the realization of new types of value streams in the Industrial Internet of Things, as it brings together different automation networks to form an automation backbone. And with Industrial HiVision, our customers can fully exploit the potential of this new technology. The ability to configure VLANs is now one of the standard functions of a managed Ethernet switch. In just a few years, the real-time capability offered by TSN will be just such a standard feature."
