IIoT systems require security software

At Embedded World 2018, Real-Time Innovations (RTI) focused on the connectivity platform for real-time applications, Connext DDS 5.3, and the security extension Connext DDS Secure. Demos of the layered data bus architectures were on display at the RTI stand and at the partner stands.

Security software

RTI Connext DDS 5.3 applications include the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), including connected medical devices and hospitals in healthcare, autonomous vehicles in transportation, and hydroelectric and microgrid systems in the energy market. All of these systems require the sharing of data across multiple networks, from edge to fog to cloud. To help IIoT system architects overcome these challenges, RTI has developed connectivity software that, according to the manufacturer, implements a layered data bus structure while supporting interoperability and an open architecture. RTI Connext DDS is based on the OMG's DDS standard and enables data to be shared across multiple networks. The current version 5.3 offers new security plug-ins, interoperable security with future Connext DDS versions as well as plug-and-play systems made up of components from different providers. sw
