Schneider Electric fills new management positions

Schneider Electric has appointed Barbara Frei as the new Executive Vice President of the global Industrial Automation business unit. The manager will take over the position with immediate effect from Peter Herweck, who was appointed CEO of AVEVA, the world's leading provider of industrial software for digital transformation and sustainability, on May 1.

After serving as Executive Vice President Europe Operations at Schneider Electric since 2019, Barbara Frei will remain a member of the Executive Committee. Based in Zurich, she will report directly to Jean-Pascal Tricoire, Chairman & CEO of Schneider Electric. Her responsibilities will include helping the tech group's customers and partners to benefit from the next generation of sustainable solutions for the industry of the future and to reap the benefits of universal automation. The industry expert will continue to work closely with all of Schneider's strategic partners, including AVEVA and ProLeit.

Barbara Frei joined Schneider Electric in 2016 as Country President Germany and expanded her area of responsibility as Zone President DACH the following year. She started her career as a development project manager for motors and drives at ABB Switzerland and subsequently held various management positions in the ABB Group, including regional responsibility as Country Manager for the Czech Republic and Regional Manager for the Mediterranean region in Italy. The manager holds a doctorate in mechanical engineering from ETH Zurich and an MBA from IMD Lausanne. She is also a member of the Board of Directors of Swisscom AG.

Christel Heydemann becomes Executive Vice President Europe Operations

Schneider Electric has appointed Christel Heydemann as the new Executive Vice President Europe Operations. Like Barbara Frei, the new Head of Europe, who previously held the position of Executive Vice President France Operations, will retain her role as a member of the company's Executive Committee. The manager will continue to represent Schneider Electric to the EU institutions and contribute to the development of a political agenda that will accelerate Europe's green and digital transformation.

Christel Heydemann joined Schneider Electric in 2014 as Vice President of Strategic Alliances and expanded her area of responsibility in 2016 as Corporate Strategy & Alliances, Senior Vice President. One year later, she was promoted to Executive Vice President France Operations and member of the Executive Committee. Before joining Schneider Electric, Christel Heydemann worked at the Boston Consulting Group and held various management positions at Alcatel-Lucent. The manager is a member of the Board of Orange. She graduated from the Ecole Polytechnique and the Ecole Nationale des Ponts et Chaussées in France.
