Motion controller with STO switch-off
Faulhaber has introduced a new series of motion controllers with redundant STO safety shutdown. This immediately interrupts the power supply to the motor.
The devices in the MC 5004 P STO series are therefore certified for operation up to safety integrity level SIL3 and performance level PL e. The interfaces USB, RS232, CANopen and EtherCAT are available. This gives the devices the ability to communicate with the higher-level process control system in real time. The motion controllers with up to 50 V supply voltage and 12 A peak current are suitable for all safety-relevant applications in machines and robots.
The controller structure allows high dynamics when operating the motors. Position, speed and current can be controlled independently of the fieldbus using analog specifications.
