Universal Robots: Plug-and-produce is not a vision
With mobile collaborative robot applications from Universal Robots, Müller Maschinentechnik GmbH will be presenting flexible automation solutions for modern metalworking at Metav 2018. From February 20 to 24, 2018 in Düsseldorf, the distribution partner of the Danish HRC pioneer aims to provide answers to the challenges facing the industry, such as increasing variant diversity and ever more flexible batch sizes from individual to series production. Most of the accessories for the applications also come from the Universal Robots+ online ecosystem, which stands for particularly fast and cost-efficient automation.
"Visitors to our stand will see that 'plug-and-produce' is no longer just a vision. UR+ makes this possible by providing access to a growing number of grippers, sensors and other accessories that are guaranteed to be implemented via plug-and-play. This reduces the time and cost of installing automation solutions, making them a realistic option for small and medium-sized companies too," says Lothar Vandeberg, Sales Manager at Müller Maschinentechnik.
Among other things, Müller will be presenting a Bachmann FeedMaster equipped with a UR5 robot as well as a 2-finger gripper and camera system from Robotiq, which allows the application to recognize and grip differently shaped parts. A Bachmann BasicFeeder with a pallet storage unit and a UR10 with a pneumatic gripper from PHD will also be on show. The example applications for loading and unloading CNC machines are characterized by their modular design: Mounted on a mobile platform, they can be moved as a multi-machine concept within a production facility and used on different machines.
Müller also demonstrates what fully automated mobility looks like using the example of a MiR200 from Mobile Industrial Robots, on which a UR3 with an OnRobot RG2 gripper and a force-torque sensor from Optoforce is mounted: the autonomous mobile robot can move independently between different workstations where the robot arm performs its feeding tasks. Vandeberg: "The safe combination of mobility and collaborative robotics offers metalworking companies the flexibility they need to make processes as efficient as possible. During the day, the applications can work on small batches alongside humans, who are indispensable in view of the complex vertical range of manufacture. At night, the robot systems can continue to work unattended in unmanned shifts on larger series, which further increases productivity."
At METAV, Universal Robots (Germany) GmbH itself will be represented at the "2nd mav Industry 4.0 Theme Park" (Hall 17, Stand A05). As part of the forum of the special show, Christian Lorenscheit, Business Development Manager at UR, will present the diverse application possibilities of UR robots to interested parties in his lecture "Toolbox 4.0" on 22.02.2018 from 11:30 to 12:00 and on 23.02.2018 from 13:30 to 14:00. cs
